Money management is a tricky thing in Zimbabwe.
January seems to be the best time for most people to think about their relationship with their money. With a (hopefully) clean slate from prior year, it’s an opportunity to start over and do things better. Do not wait for the new year cycle, start now!
With regards to this, we intend to walk that path with you and help you make sound financial decisions. We believe we can help each other go through these times and share tips and hacks on how to survive and possibly thrive in this dynamic environment.
Indeed, money is a very wide topic, much more than income, budgeting, saving, spending, investing and debt management. That being the case, we aim to give you more insight as locals and Zimbabweans “in the diaspora” on the following services and products in Zimbabwe:
Topical Concerns
- Bank Accounts – what are the best banks, offering best value?
- Digital Currency – is it operational, worth considering?
- Funeral Cover – which packages work best?
- Insurance – does one need it, what are the options?
- Investment Options – should we even bother when they are wiped away every few years?
- Medical Aid – what is working and what is not?
- Microfinance – a useful or dangerous path?
- Mobile Money – how to leverage it?
- Money Market – does it still make sense?
- Money Transfers – what is the latest and most efficient offering?
- Retirement – is it still feasible in this environment to plan for it?
- Stock Market – can an ordinary man access it anymore?
- Unit Trusts – should we do it again after the horrors of dollarization in 2009?
Further, we want this to be a platform where we can share real life experience that enables us to save and make more money and stay winning on financial affairs. Granted, this is hardly everything to consider money-wise, and for this reason we would love to hear from you on what other topics and aspects of money management you want covered.
We will start off with a review of the banks in Zimbabwe and their product offerings, over the next few weeks. We do this in the hope that the articles, tips and pointers will inform your decisions to select the most appropriate services for your situation.
To sum up, we are here to help on money issues – with a special focus on personal finance and small business. Help us help you, we are willing partners. You can email us on maripodcastzw@gmail.com or send a WhatsApp message on +263772526543
